About the HSK
The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, 汉语水平考试) is China's official Chinese proficiency test. The 2021 revision — known as HSK 3.0 — uses a nine-grade system grouped into three stages: Beginner (HSK 1–3), Intermediate (HSK 4–6) and Advanced (HSK 7–9).
Each list below shows the words that are new at that level, following the official syllabus. If you are new to Chinese, start with HSK 1; if you already study at a level, jump straight to it and use the A–Z index to review.
